Car Dealers License
Scam
One common car dealers license scam to be aware of
is available to you on the internet if you do a bit of searching…and the scam
goes like this...
For a non-refundable fee of one to four thousand dollars upfront, plus $500.00
per month, they will make it “appear” that you are working under someone else's
auto dealers license.
They will set you up with a wholesale dealers license in a state that will
probably have less stringent laws regulating car dealers.
Wholesale car auctions allow out-of-state
car dealers to participate in their used car auctions. And thats a good thing,
but one of the problems with this dealers license scam, besides the expense, is
that some people have been issued wholesale car dealers licenses which enables
them to buy and sell at car auctions and to other car dealers, but that license
does not allow you to sell cars retail to the public.
Thats fine as long as you are aware of that, but often these people
think they can do anything with their wholesale license not
realizing that in many states it is illegal to sell used cars to the public with a
wholesale dealers license.
IF you’re going to get a
dealers license, then you will probably need a retail dealers
license to be able to legally sell cars to the public.
The problem is that if you get busted for selling cars to the public
with a wholesale dealers license, you won't be able to get an auto dealers license in your own state ever again.
The way to avoid all the trouble and expense involved in this scam
is to just get your own car dealers license.
