How To Use “TOP 10 SAFE CAR” Lists When Selling Used Cars

BMW Isetta 300Every year magazines and websites announce the latest list of the Top 10 Safest Cars, and even if we glance at them, most of us move on with our lives and drive whatever car we choose to regardless of what any list says.

However, all things being equal, and faced with choosing between one of the listed “safe” cars and one that wasn’t, most of us would choose the safer car, right?

Yes we would and that is the case with most used car buyers which is what this post is about.

And when you think like an entrepreneur instead of a consumer, here is how you can take advantage of those “Top 10 Safe Car” lists…

Blab about it in your ads

Thats right. If the car you’re selling is on a Top 10 Safe Car list then be sure to blab about that in your car-for-sale ad.

For example:

If you are selling a 2005 vehicle, then one minute spent doing a quick Google search using the keyword phrase “top 10 safest cars for 2005” (without quotes) will tell you what the top safest cars were for that year.

I just did a Google search using “top 10 safest cars for 2005”  for the heck of it and saw immediately that the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety lists the following cars as being the safest for that year…

  • Ford 500 / Mercury Montego
  • Audi A3
  • Audi A4
  • Saab 9-3
  • Subura Legacy
  • VW Jetta
  • VW Passat
  • Chevy Malibu
  • Honda Civic 4 door

Say something like this in your ad…

TOP SAFEST CAR: This 2005 Ford 500 (or whatever the car is you are selling) was listed as the #1 TOP SAFEST CAR FOR 2005 by the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety.

Bottom line

Use whatever is HONEST in your car-for-sale ads that will give you an advantage so you can sell your car faster and for more money.

    Hey Steve,

This is a good simple idea that I will keep in mind to use in the future. I like your suggestion that we should use whatever we can to boost interest in the cars we are selling.

Yeah I agree! I never thought of this before but any little thing we can use to make our cars sell easier is always a good thing and espeically for cars that are kinda slow selling.
