15 Reasons Why I Suck As An Employee And Why You Might Suck At It Too

hate job, quit job, start businessI had to be somewhere recently that required having to wake up to an alarm clock and battle morning rush-hour traffic.

I almost never do those things because I don’t choose to do them. However, on this day, I had to.

What I noticed while crawling on the freeway at 5 to 20 mph were all the sad faces in the cars. Clearly, these were humans that hated the job they were driving to.

The sad thing is that their job is sucking up 40 hours minimum per week – plus another 5 to 10+ hours in driving time.

Aaargh, that’s 45 to 50 hours per week doing something they hate!

I don’t judge them for feeling sad because I remember doing the morning go-to-work ritual too. I rarely use the word “hate” – but oh gawd, how I intensely disliked doing that.

Those sad faces inspired me to think about why I sucked at being an employee.

No really. As hard as I might choose to work and be productive – I choose to do that on my own terms. This is why it wasn’t good for me (or my boss) that I worked at a job.

Sooooo, here are 15 reasons why I sucked as an employee, and why you might suck at being an employee too…

1) I’m not a morning person and most bosses want me to start working in the morning.

2) I don’t like to stop sleeping until my body is done sleeping and being jarred out of a sound sleep by an alarm clock is torturous.

3) I like my mornings to be quiet and peaceful which makes the usual chaos involved in rushing to leave the house to go to a job a kind of hell for me.

4) I prefer to drive when there is no traffic which makes driving to and from a job in grid-lock rush hour traffic an exercise in insanity.

5) I don’t like putting unnecessary wear and tear on my vehicle and wasting gas driving to places that I don’t want to go to in the first place.

6) I am an adult now and I don’t like being told what to do and working at a job makes me someones bitch.

7) I prefer to eat when I’m hungry and not when “the man” tells me to eat.

8) It’s unhealthy to work under fluorescent lights for 40+ hours per week.

9) I will be fired if I refuse to do idiotic non-productive busy work.

10) I’m most productive when I feel like being productive and not when someone tells me I must be productive.

11) I’d rather be hit repeatedly on the side of the head with a ball-peen hammer than to deal with petty office politics.

12) When nature cooperates by producing good waves, I need to drop everything and go surfing.

13) I’m not a psychopath which means I won’t screw over my co-workers in order to climb a corporate ladder.

14) I’m an adult and I don’t like being chastised or yelled at if I make a mistake.

15) I’m a free spirit which means I like to do what I want when I want.

I respect myself too much and there’s no job on earth that could pay me enough to inflict all of the above on myself.

If you suck at being an employee, please tell us why in the comment section below.  :-)

Steve, I am reading your book still and auto adds, etc. I am from Ohio and I have also read a lot of scary articles about working without a license. Can you calm my nerves? Thanks…..still excited!

      Hi Ron,

Keep reading my book because I have a chapter that discusses how to LEGALLY sell as many cars as you want without having your own dealers license.

Most states have a legal limit you can follow which should help calm your nerves. For instance, several states allow you sell 5-7 cars a year for profit. If you are married, that means combined between you and your wife you could sell 10-14 cars a year, legally, without a license.

It’s not hard to average around a $1,000 profit per car so that’s a great source of an extra $10,000-$15,000 a year.

      Best of luck friend!

I suck as an employee because my job starts early in the morning and I don’t sleep to good because I am an insomniac!

I totally SUCK at working for someone else because I don’t make as much money as I know I’m worth. I need to change this too.
